Now that we are all happy to have Season 5 & 6 in our future, we need to look at the other bit of information Starz gave us. Namely the episode number. According to the contracts for 5 & 6 they have a total of 24 episodes for these season which means 12 episodes a season. What does that mean going forward?
Consider this. There will be a longer hiatus for our actors which means a longer wait for us. Shaving off an episode does help with that but aren't we left to wonder how they will manage all of The Fiery Cross into 12 episodes?
I have to wonder if the answer to this lies in the vague comments show runners have made about the future books being even more difficult to adapt down, and that they aren't sure they are sticking to a book per season.
So is it possible that in reality will be getting 24 episode for 1 book or maybe these season will overlap books and say 18 will be one book and the remaining six will lead us into another.
Many book fans know that as Gabaldon moved through the series, cliffhangers became less and less and when a book ended it was just at what seemed like a good enough point to stop.
I'm glad we are getting Outlander at all but I'm hoping, now, that the books are going to be a little more chopped up and maybe 3 season will encompass 2 books.
