Rollo is the result of a female Irish Wolfhound and a wolf. Young Ian wins him in a dice game and the two become fast friends. Rollo is extremely loyal to Young Ian and that loyalty does extend to those Ian loves. Claire is apprehensive due to her previous encounters with wolves but comes to love Rollo who frequently saves the day.

Lizzie is the daughter of Joseph Wemyss.. Lizzie lost her mother at a young age and is very closer with her father. Due to circumstances out of his control Joseph is forced to sell them both into servitude but finds a kind master who is not only willing to help Lizzie but doesn't see her as a servant but rather a friend which comes in handy as Lizzie's trip to the Colonies leaves her burning with fever.

In Season Three, we see Claire in the 20th century trying to live her life with Frank. Claire and Frank move to Boston but their relationship can't start over as they wanted. Claire mourns Jamie and won't let Frank touch her. It is too much for Frank who can't stand the idea of Claire being with another.
After Claire gives birth to Brianna, she goes to medical school and becomes a doctor. While in med school she becomes friends with Joe Abernathy while Frank makes a different type of friend at Harvard.
When Brianna graduates from high school, Frank asks for a divorce and wants to take Brianna to England with him and his mistress. Claire refuses and Frank storms out only to get into a car accident and end up dead and Claire's hospital.
In the future's present, Claire and Brianna are staying with Roger trying to find Jamie in history. When they reach a dead end they return to Boston where the two have trouble connecting.
Roger appears with the news that he found Jamie in Edinburgh approximately 200 years ago and Brianna encourages her mom to go back to him. Claire and Brianna start the process of putting things in order and Brianna discovers Frank had a mistress.
The three have a quick Christmas before send Claire off to Scotland and through the stones.
When Claire gets back to the 18th century she makes her way to Edinburgh were she finds Jamie, his nephew Young Ian, Fergus, the elder Ian and Jamie's illegal business. After Young Ian sets fire to the print shop to prevent Jamie from being found a guilty of sedition they all go back to Lallybroch.
Claire is met with anger as Jenny believes Claire should have returned to them rather than running off to France or wherever she was. Claire and Jenny work things out but not before Jenny brings Laoghaire to Lallybroch and Claire discovers Jamie married her enemy.
Claire ends up staying to doctor Jamie who was shot by Laoghaire and ends up forgiving Jamie. Jamie, Claire and Young Ian go to the coast after the Selkie treasure where he is abducted.
Claire and Jamie set sail for Jamaica on their rescue operation but are waylaid at sea by an English ship who kidnaps Claire for her doctoring abilities. Claire jumps ship near and island in hopes of warning Jamie that the Captain of said ship knows of his sedition and will be arresting him in Jamaica.
Claire wanders the island in search of food and water before find Father Fogden who, with the help of Mamacita, nurse her back to health. When Claire learns a ship is beached for repairs and there is a Chinamen aboard she rushes to the beach and into Jamie's arms.
Claire helps Marsali with her wedding prep and then they all go to Jamaica where they attend the Governor's Ball. At the ball, Claire sees Geillis Duncan who she'd thought dead. When she confronts Geillis, she's told Geillis masterminded an escape plan and was helped by Dougal. Claire tells Geillis about Young Ian who feigns distress at their dilemma.
Jamie and Claire get a tip that Young Ian is at Rose Hall (Geillis plantation) and the two head out to find Young Ian but are stopped by Captain Leonard who arrests Jamie.
Claire goes on ahead and finds herself being interrogated by Geillis who believes Claire is trying to thwart her Jacobite plans. When Claire reveals what has happened to her and that she's traveled multiple times Geillis is stunned.
Claire is locked in a room and Jamie finally frees her and she tells him she saw Young Ian being dragged away.
When the catch up to Geillis she is trying to use Young Ian as a sacrifice to steer through the standing stones and Claire stops her from going to the future to harm Brianna.
They all return to the Artemis and set sail for Scotland when a storm hits and Claire is thrown overboard. She wakes on a beach with Jamie and are informed they are in the colony of Georgia.

In Season Three, After sending Claire back through the stones to save her and their unborn child from the horrors of Culloden, Jamie survives, against all odds and even his own wishes when sent home on what is believed his death bed.
Jamie lives in a cave on the Fraser lands for seven years before he orchestrates his capture so that Jenny and the rest of his family and tenets can benefit from the reward money for turning him in.
Jamie is then remanded to Ardsmuir Prison where he meets up with John Grey again (the boy who attacked him before Prestonpans) who is now the Governor of the prison. A friendship begins to blossom until Jamie realizes John is attracted to him. Remembering his treatment at the hands of Jack Randall, Jamie lashes out and becomes suspicious of John.
When the prison closes the prisoners are transported to the Colonies but John arranges for Jamie to go to Helwater in the Lake District to be a stable hand on an estate. At first, Jamie believes that John has sinister motives but soon comes to realize John did everything because he cared.
Jamie catches the eye of Geneva Dunsany before her marriage to a man old enough to be her grandfather. She is unwilling to let the old man be the first man she lies with and wants Jamie aka Alex. He isn't willing until she blackmails him with the letters he writes to his family. Jamie gives in and the two share a night together.
Months later, Geneva has a baby boy and then dies as a result of the childbirth. Jamie is summoned to help Lord Dunsany (Geneva's father) who is trying to save the baby from Ellesmere (Geneva's husband) who insists the child isn't his. Jamie shoots the Earl (Ellesmere) and saves the boy (Willie) much to the gratitude of the Dunsanys.
Jamie stays on with the Dunsanys to see his son grow but the boy begins to resemble him and he's forced to call on John to help him. John has had his suspicions and plans to wed Isobel (Geneva's sister) so he can be a step-father to Willie.
Jamie goes back to Lallybroch a shell of himself and ends up married to Laoghaire. They marriage doesn't work out and he moves to Edinburgh to open a print shop which is where Claire finds him when she returns from the future.
Jamie and Claire reconnect before having to go in search of his nephew Young Ian who has set his print shop on fire. After everything they all go back to Lallybroch where they are met with mixed emotions.
Jamie is trying to work up the nerve to tell Claire about Laoghaire when Jenny orchestrates a reunion for him. Claire is prepared to return to her own time when Laoghaire appears and shoots Jamie making Claire stay to doctor him. After Jamie explains himself, Claire is willing to stay and Jamie begins the legal dissolvement of his marriage to Laoghaire which requires money. Jamie thinks using a bit of the Selkie treasure he found while in prison will work.
Jamie, Claire and Young Ian go to the coast and Jamie and Claire watch as Young Ian is kidnapped by a ship that also takes the treasure. Jamie and Claire hop the next available ship and go in pursuit.
While at sea, they are boarded by an English ship and Claire is taken to doctor to the men aboard the English ship who are dying. Jamie wants to pursue the English ship but the captain sees no point as they are all going to Jamaica. The Artemis (Jamie's ship) ends up on the beach while they try to repair the masts and Claire comes out of the brush after begin stranded their herself.
Before they set sail again, Jamie consents to Fergus and Marsali's marriage.
The Artemis finally reaches Jamaica and Jamie goes in search of Young Ian but is having no luck. He decides to go to the Governor's Ball in hopes the Governor will be able to help him find Young Ian. Jamie is shocked to find Lord John who is very willing to help.
Geillis Duncan shows up and a lead sends them in her direction. Before they can follow Geillis to her plantation, Captain Leonard (the Englishman who took Claire and knows Jamie is wanted) arrests Jamie.
Jamie ends up before Lord John who wields his considerable power to see Jamie is freed.
Jamie mounts a rescue for Young Ian and sets off to Rose Hall (Geillis plantation) to find Young Ian and Claire. There he finds Claire who tells him Geillis plans to go back to the future after Bree. They barely make it to the cave in time to save Young Ian.
After Claire kills Geillis, Jamie gets his family out of there and they board another ship hoping to return home. However, they are caught in a storm and Claire goes overboard and Jamie after her. The two wash up on the shores of Georgia in the American Colonies.

In Season Three, Brianna is a redheaded young lady and the daughter of Claire and Jamie Fraser. In Season Three, Marsali and Joan get Jamie to dance with them at Hogmany. Jamie can't help but love the girls as daughters and marries their mother in hopes of having a family. This doesn't work out.
Marsali is the first to walk in and find Jamie with Claire and is upset for her mother. However, Marsali has her own secret which comes out after Jamie and Claire set sail on the Artemis in search of Young Ian. Marsali and Fergus are hand-fasted and wish to be married. Jamie isn't okay with the idea and knows Laoghaire will hate it because of Fergus's past and his lack of hand.
Marsali is determined to have the man she loves and refuses to be stopped. She even tries to get on Claire's good side but soon realizes Claire isn't going to get in the middle. She sails the seas with all the Fraser's and helps Fergus comes to realize when to deny Jamie.
After Jamie is freed from the brig of the Artemis he gives them his consent to marry. Marsali seeks Claire's advice on birth control and on the beach of Saint Domingue, Marsali and Fergus are married under the name Fraser.

In Season Three, Fergus is a grown-up version of the beloved French pickpocket that Jamie and Claire took under their wing. Born into a brothel, Fergus has grown up into a charming, devilishly handsome man with a strong sense of loyalty and decorum, despite his unconventional upbringing. He is the ultimate romantic, wearing his heart on his sleeve and falling in and out of love easily. However, Fergus’s devotion to Jamie never wavers, making the Frenchman an integral part of the Fraser clan. Still, his debonair demeanor masks a longing for a lasting love and a permanent sense of belonging.
Fergus is involved in all of Jamie's illegal businesses though he's keen to do legitimate work as he wishes to provide for a wife.
Fergus brings Marsali aboard the Artemis telling Jamie they are hand-fasted and wish to be married. Jamie won't give consent. After Claire is kidnapped by the Porpoise, Jamie says he will consent to the marriage if Fergus will get the keys to his cell and free him so they can mutiny. Fergus soon realizes such a plan will put Marsali in danger and refuses.
After Jamie is freed from the brig of the Artemis he gives them his consent to marry. On the beach of Saint Domingue, Marsali and Fergus are married under the name Fraser as Jamie claims Fergus as his son.

In Season Three; Murtagh is in prison with Jamie and is very sick. Jamie gets medical attention for Murtagh with the help of Lord John Grey. When Ardsmuir Prison closes Jamie is taken to Helwater but the rest of the prisoners are transported to the Colonies, including Murtagh.
In the books we discover Murtagh died at the battle of Culloden.

After Claire, Jamie and Young Ian return to Lallybroch; the three set off to get treasure promised to Bonnie Prince Charlie which never arrived and Jamie found on Selkie Island after his escape from Ardsmuir. Young Ian swims out to the island but is kidnapped by sailors and taken to Jamaica where he meets Geillis Duncan though he knows her as Mistress Abernathy.
Jamie and Claire come to his rescue just as Geillis is about to murder him as a sacrifice to the standing stones.

In Season Three, we see Jenny as Jamie is brought to Lallybroch on Col. Grey's orders. Jamie is wounded and Jenny nurses him back to health. She runs the more domestic side of Lallybroch (and the men). If she's not herding the children then she's washing, cooking, or overseeing others.
While Jamie is hiding in the cave, Jenny goes into labor with Young Ian. Jamie comes to see his nephew just as some English soldiers show up causing him to have to hide in an adjacent room with the child. When the English ask Jenny where her newborn is she tells them he died.
Jamie realizes it is too dangerous for him to be at home and sets it up so Jenny can turn Jamie in for the reward money. Jenny is very angry about it but still writes to him when he's at Helwater.
When Jamie returns home, Jenny is determined to find him happiness and is involved in setting Jamie up with Laoghaire.
When Claire returns Jenny makes sure Laoghaire knows about it and isn't too keen on Claire thinking she'll take Jamie away again.
Jenny and Claire have their moment where Claire explains that she was remarried and thought Jamie dead. Jenny tells Claire they thought they were family and Claire could can written to her.
The last we see of Jenny is before Jamie, Claire and Young Ian set out to the Selkie island in hopes of bringing back treasure to pay off the debt to Laoghaire.

In Season Three, Lord John is a steadfast and honorable British subject, torn between a finely-honed sense of familial duty and a strong moral compass of right and wrong. He is boyishly handsome with an upper class rearing—the consummate gentleman. However, a scandal from his past has relegated Lord John to an undesirable position as governor of a desolate prison in Northern Scotland called Ardsmuir Prison.
Once at the prison, John realizes who Jamie is and takes up the previous governor's habit of discussing prisoner matters with Jamie only to discover just how much he likes Jamie.
The two becomes friendly: eating together, playing chess and discussing books. Things are going well until John's feelings get the better of him and he makes a move on Jamie who rejects him almost violently.
Jamie escapes the prison and when John finds him Jamie tells him a tale of looking for the wife he's thought dead. To prove it he gives him a sapphire he found on the island telling him he through the rest of the treasure into the sea.
John makes sure Jamie isn't transported to the Colonies by getting him paroled to Helwater where he can work with horses and have some freedom. Jamie doesn't understand the intentions until much later when it dawns on him that John helped him out of kindness.
When Jamie realizes people will start to figure out who Willie's father is he asks for John's help. John is more than willing to help and requires nothing in return for watching out for Jamie's son.
John informs Jamie he is going to wed Isobel Dunsany so he can be a step-father to Willie.
When Jamie and Claire get to Jamaica they realize the Governor is none other than Lord John. Claire seems a little jealous of him but John treats her with respect.
When Jamie is captured on Jamaica by Captain Leonard, John steps in to save him pulling rank on the young Captain.

In Season Three, Joe Abernathy is a fellow doctor-in-training whom Claire befriends in medical school. Joe is intelligent and charismatic. Joe is a loyal confidant for Claire, as they both feel out of place in the mostly all-white, all-male medical field, a struggle that will bond them together in a life-long friendship.
Joe and Claire graduate from medical school together and he's something of an uncle to Bree. When Claire is contemplating returning to the past she asks Joe if she's still attractive and he's overjoyed she has someone.
In the books, Claire kind of leaves Brianna to Joe to periodically check in on and watch over.

In Season Three, Geillis Duncan has transformed herself into Mistress Abernathy by marrying a rich plantation owner who has mysteriously died by the time Claire stumbles upon her.
After Claire reunites with Jamie; they need money to pay off the divorce settlement owed to Laoghaire. Jamie suggests the Selkie treasure and takes Young Ian to the coast to swim out and retrieve a gemstone which Jared can sell in France. But as Jamie and Claire watch; Young Ian is kidnapped by a ship called the Bruja.
When the Bruja arrives and Young Ian is brought to Geillis she questions him about the treasure and he let's it slip that Jamie took a sapphire from the treasure early on.
Jamie and Claire board their own ship in pursuit and when they arrive in Jamaica they discover Geillis Duncan at the Governor's Ball.
Claire questions Geillis who tells her she got Dougal to help her switch herself with the body of a woman who recently died. The officials waited to burn her until after her child was born. Claire asks if she's seen Young Ian, describing him, and Geillis feigns innocence and offers her help.
Geillis tries to get a hold of the sapphire Jamie gave to Lord John but is unsuccessful.
Geillis wants the Brahan Seer's Prophecy which she believes refers to the Fraser Clan. She can't figure out how there wold bee a 200 year old baby.
Geillis questions Young Ian again, sure that Claire is after the jewels and is trying to thwart her efforts. When Claire shows up she questions her and realizes Claire was a victim of time but has return to the future successful and then come back intentionally leaving behind Brianna, a 200 year old baby.
Geillis believes killing Brianna will make it possible for a Scotsman to rule Scotland. She plans to go back to the future by sacrificing Young Ian; but Claire stops her by killing her with an ax.

After Claire's return Laoghaire shows up at Lallybroch and confronts Jamie about him being with Claire when he's also married to her.
Later, as Jamie and Claire argue in the dooryard Laoghaire appears intent on shooting Claire but accidentally shoots Jamie. After Jamie recovers, Ned Gowan draws up a contract to dissolve the marriage of Jamie and Laoghaire.
