Outlander is adding some series players to their Season 4 casting.
Maria Doyle Kennedy has been cast as Jocasta Cameron, Jamie's strong-willed aunt. You may know Doyle Kennedy from her rolls in Orphan Black, Downton Abbey, Dexter, Albert Nobbs, The Tudors, Sing Street or The Conjuring 2. I personally love Downton Abbey but if you want to see Doyle Kennedy shine beyond belief watch the now completed Orphan Black! She's fantastic.
Ed Speelers has been cast as Stephen Bonnet, a pirate and smuggler. Pssst. He's awful. Bonnet not Speelers. You may remember Speelers from Downton Abby, Howl, Wolf Hall, Alice Through the Looking Glass or Eragon.
Season four began filming in Scotland this week. The new season will be 13 episodes long and is based on Diana Gabaldon's book Drums of Autumn which is based on the fourth book in the Outlander series.
Now this is a development you can toast to, Outlander fans!
Another Outlander-themed wine series is about to go on the market for a limited time. The collection from Lot18 includes six wines that incorporate the names — or aliases — of Jamie and Claire.
For Jamie lovers, you can enjoy a full-bodied glass of Mo Nighean Donn, A. Malcolm, Red Jamie, or Mac Dubh. For those who prefer a perfumed cup o’ Claire, there’s Sassenach, La Dame Blanche, and Mo Nighean Donn (which is Gaelic for “my dark-haired lass”).
The collection goes on sale today, Oct. 9, at www.lot18.com/Outlander while supplies last.
We don't know the answer to this yet. Scottish actor James McAnerney posted the below tweet on his Twitter and it has made me curious who we think James will be playing in Season Three. Remember if you've not read the books this is very spoiler-y....
In case you missed it, Outlander has received two new cast members in the forms of Gary Young and Charlie Hiett.
Young, a graduate of the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in London and Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School, most recently appeared in the Netflix feature Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny and the Australian miniseries Secret City.
Mr. Willoughby is a man of Chinese decent with a deep knowledge of Eastern medicine. He is a talented poet in exile, with an even deeper love of women. Willoughby, a confidante of Jamie Fraser, speaks English well, but hides it when it suits him.
Hiett trained at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama has credits including the role of William Kent in The Suspicions of Mr Whincher on ITV, as well as Judge John Deed and M.I. High.
Leonard is the inexperienced, by-the-book de facto captain of the Artemis. Promoted quickly due to the untimely deaths of his commanding officers, Leonard takes his job very seriously, though it weighs heavily on his young shoulders. A third lieutenant, he never thought he would be the captain of a man-of-war ship. Above all, he wants to do what is right by the British Navy — whether or not it is right by his own personal morals.
According to Maril Davis's Q&A on Twitter, Hal (Lord John's brother) has been cast but who the actor is playing him has yet to be leaked.
We also got confirmation that we will see Mr. Willoughby though no further news there also.
There is also some publicity photos in our future because Starz just did their first major publicity stills shoot.
So Wee Jamie (or Young Jamie) is apparently all grown up, which makes sense if there is going to be a time jump.
On the left we have Aaron Wright who played a very young James Murray and on the left we have Conor McCarry who will be playing an older James Murray (Young Jamie).
Young Jamie is now the heir to Lallybroch after Jamie and Claire signed over the deed of Sasine to him before Culloden.
Conor has been in Anna Karenina and Battleship. You can check out his IMDB page and follow him on Twitter. Be kind.
Hannah James is a British/American actress who was raised in Virginia. James appeared in Mercy Street as Emma Green. You can learn more about her and IMDB and follower her on Twitter at @hannah_james_44.
James’ Geneva, the eldest daughter, is as beautiful as she is headstrong. Yet she’s also petulant, spoiled and demanding of the servants at their home- Helwater. Geneva’s accustomed to getting exactly what she wants when she wants it. Underneath however she has a vulnerability — even a naiveté — due to her sheltered life.
Tanya Reynolds appeared in Fanny Lye Deliver'd and Introducing Lucy according to her IMDB page. You can follow her on Twitter at @TanyaLReynolds.
Reynolds’ Isobel, Geneva’s younger sister, is warm, friendly and genuine. Though more plain than her sister, Isobel is inherently more likeable and compassionate towards others.
You may have already heard the news but actress Lauren Lyle has been cast in the role of Marsali.
Marsali is described as:
"Marsali is the 18-year-old high-spirited daughter of Laoghaire. Blond and lovely, like her mother, she first was introduced in Season 1, when her youthful crush on Jamie Fraser was halted by his marriage to Claire, but Marsali has a rebellious and romantic mind of her own. She knows what she wants and she goes after it – reputation and propriety be damned."
Sounds a little like Laoghaire, no? Well, I believe the show fans will like Marsali a lot more.
"Born into a brothel, Fergus has grown up into a charming, devilishly handsome man with a strong sense of loyalty and decorum, despite his unconventional upbringing. He is the ultimate romantic, wearing his heart on his sleeve and falling in and out of love easily. However, Fergus’ devotion to Jamie has never wavered, making the Frenchman an integral part of the Fraser clan. Still, his debonair demeanor masks a longing for a lasting love and a permanent sense of belonging."
Could it get any better? We now have our Fergus who will be portrayed by French actor César Domboy (The Walk)who will step into Berrux’s shoes as an older Fergus when the story jumps ahead two decades in the third season of the time-traveling drama series.
You can find more about César Domboy at IMDB or follow him at Instagram and Twitter.
Meet Wil Johnson and John Bell who will be playing Joe Abernathy and Young Ian Murray. I don't know about you by I'm rather excited about both castings.
Wil Johnson is a British actor with some series experience under his acting belt though admittedly I've not seen any of it. I for one am interested in hearing Joe Abernathy's accent come out of this accomplished actor. If you want to know more about Wil you can check out his IMDB page or follow him on Twitter.
John Bell is a young actor who just happens to have been in two of the Hobbit movies with our beloved Graham MacTavish. I suppose if we can't have a certain dwarf we can have Bard's son Bain. Works for me though Graham is so missed. You can see more of the young actors credits at his IMDB page or follow him on Twitter.
Bell's Young Ian is set to join Jamie's (Sam Heughan) world in the 18th century, and Johnson's Joe Abernathy will meet Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in Boston in the 20th century, acting as her new friend and medical colleague.
